Sophia Salas Cordero is a postdoctoral research associate and part-time lecturer within the Department of Complex Systems Engineering at ISAE-SUPAERO in France. She holds a Ph.D. in Embedded Systems and Informatics from ISAE-SUPAERO.

Her academic pursuits began with earning both a BSc and MSc in Mechatronics and Robotics at Bauman Moscow State Technical University. Demonstrating her passion for continuous learning and advancement, Sophia furthered her education with a second MSc in Space and Engineering Systems at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.

Sophia’s professional journey has been enriched as well by her past role as a visiting student researcher at the renowned NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the Systems Engineering Division. She has been certified as an Associate Systems Engineering Professional by the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and she holds experience in the utilization and development of Systems Engineering Methodologies, including research that encompasses the application of Model-based Systems Engineering Conceptual Concurrent Design in the domain of Space Systems.

Her early academic focus on Mechatronics, particularly in Control Systems, serves as a strong foundation for her current research pursuits. Sophia’s research interests have coalesced into a profound interest in Systems Engineering, Design Engineering, Concurrent Engineering, as well as Risk and Obsolescence Management.
